The Written Expression Language and Literacy Collaborative (WELL)
Transforming Writing Instruction Through Structured Literacy
What is WELL?
We are a group of speech-language pathologists, teachers, and researchers committed to furthering our understanding of effective writing instruction for school-age children and disseminating this knowledge to teachers, specialists and parents.
Our Mission
Serve the language and literacy needs of the local, regional and national community.
Examine the effects of structured writing instruction delivered in the schools.
Implement evidence-based effective writing practices through research-practice partnerships that are interdisciplinary.
Charley and Sue had a wonderful time this July presenting the latest paper from the WISE Project: “Structured Literacy for Writing in Middle School: Longitudinal Outcomes from a Research–Practice Partnership”. This was shared at the Society for Scientific Study of Reading (SSSR) International Conference in Rotterdam. The paper is currently under review for publication, so hopefully we will have more news to share soon!
